5.8 - Understand the terms:
a) conjunction (superior and inferior)
b) opposition
c) elongation
d) transit
e) occultation

There are two important terms that you need to learn when finding out about the orbits of planets.

Inferior Planet

One that is nearer to the Sun than Earth. These are Venus and Mercury.

Superior Planet

One that is further away from the Sun than Earth. These are Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

These terms are relative so Earth would be an inferior planet if you were based on Mars etc.
